The Blast Injury Conference 2018, included an inspiring multidisciplinary programme of presentations delving into a broad range of topics related to blast injury.
We were delighted to have Stuart Hughes from the BBC as our Keynote Speaker for the Blast Injury Conference 2018. Stuart is a landmine survivor and is interested in reporting on the long-term cost of war on civilians and combatants.
Session 1 began with a talk on the Paediatric Blast Injury Partnership by Dr Emily Mayhew. This was followed by talks on Injury trends of Landmine action and Long-term cohort studies of WWII brain injury and mental health. Session 2 included a range of presentations focused on blast lung injury and preventing and treating heterotopic ossification. After viewing posters and networking during the lunch break, session 3 and 4 included talks on lower limb injury and hearing loss from multiple CBIS PhD students, Researchers and Academics.
This is an area of research at the cutting edge of medicine science and practice, both in the military and beyond, with participants and contributors of the event being global leaders in the field. Imperial College London is one of the world’s foremost universities, its multi-disciplinary research at the heart of all of its achievements, now and into the future.
